Seminar by Prof. Dr. Remzi Kuzuoğlu

On May 22, 2025, Prof. Dr. Remzi Kuzuoğlu, a faculty member of the History Department at Aksaray University, delivered a seminar titled “Women in Anatolia During the Assyrian Trade Colonies Period.” In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Kuzuoğlu shared insights into archaeological findings, the daily life of ancient settlements, and the commercial activities of Assyrian merchants in Anatolia. He highlighted the significant political and economic influence of Assyrian queens, particularly in trade, and supported his points with notable historical examples. The seminar also addressed the discovery of 23,500 cuneiform tablets—ancient Assyrian records that provide detailed information on trade, law, social structure, religion, and the historical geography connecting Anatolia and Mesopotamia. The event attracted considerable interest and concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session.
