On 29 November 2025, the seminar titled “Managing University Social Media: Ankara University Case” was held at the Rectorate Conference Hall of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU).
The seminar was attended by Rector of Ankara University Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, Rector of KTMU Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. İsmet Altıntaş and Prof. Dr. Kamalbek Karymshakov, Secretary-General Dr. Fatih Ramazan İstanbullugil, Chief Advisor to the Rector Prof. Dr. Oktay Özgül, Ankara University Institutional Communication Coordinatorship Representative Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özdemir, Ankara University Social Media Specialist Mehmet Alp Güven, TÖMER Deputy Director Dr. Ceyda Zerenay, academicians, media representatives, and students.
KTMU Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan delivered the opening speech, emphasizing that Ankara University is a well-established and highly respected higher education institution both in Türkiye and worldwide. He highlighted that the vision of Manas University and its motto, “More Than Just a University,” is not merely a slogan but a guiding principle for all activities. Prof. Dr. Ceylan also stressed that, in line with this vision, Manas University places special importance on international cooperation: "Manas University is an institution that aims to create value for the entire Turkic World—from education to science, from culture to technology. Therefore, we aim to carry out closer and more productive work that strengthens academic ties with the esteemed and long-standing Ankara University."
Following this, Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar stated: "Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University is a shared value for Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye. Being part of this distinguished institution, which serves both countries and the Turkic world, is an honor for us." Prof. Dr. Ünüvar also provided detailed information on successful activities conducted within Ankara University’s organizational structure, communication strategies, and social media management.
The seminar continued with presentations on Ankara University’s comprehensive experience in managing university social media.
Firstly, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özdemir, from Ankara University’s Institutional Communication Coordinatorship, delivered a presentation titled “Institutional Communication and Social Media Use: Ankara University Case”. He explained the main principles of institutional communication, strategies for strengthening brand value, and Ankara University’s successful activities and best practices in this area.
Following this, Mehmet Alp Güven, Social Media Specialist at Ankara University, presented detailed insights on the effective use of social media platforms, digital communication methods during crises, target audience analysis, and key points in content production. His presentation drew significant interest regarding digital visibility and provided practical suggestions for interaction strategies.
Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the role of social media management in strengthening institutional identity, planning digital communication strategies, and the essential dynamics of building a successful social media ecosystem. The seminar was evaluated as an important platform for sharing knowledge that contributes to the development of stronger and more effective communication practices.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation.
