Extremophiles, their uses and potential in Kyrgyzstan


On December 10, 2025, in the Biology Department, a seminar titled “Extremophiles, their uses and potential in Kyrgyzstan” was conducted by Prof. Dr. Ozlem Barysh. During the seminar, the following general information was presented:

"Extremophiles are microorganisms that thrive in extreme conditions, such as high or low temperatures, high salinity, acidic environments, and other extreme habitats. They have potential applications in biotechnology, medicine, agriculture, and industry". The seminar examined the characteristics of extremophiles, their practical applications, and their potential in Kyrgyzstan. At the end of the seminar, a question-and-answer session and discussion was held.
