Islamic Finance Panel
A panel on ‘Islamic Finance’ was held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on 24 April 2025. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Sugözü, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Maruf, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cunus Ganiev, Dr. Ubeydullah Şener and Abduraşid Coraev attended the panel as speakers.
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Sugözü, faculty member of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, who chaired the panel, explained the history of borrowing and interest and emphasised the necessity of Islamic Economics today. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Maruf, a faculty member of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration, explained Islamic Finance in the context of the Principles of Islamic Economics. Dr Ubeydullah Şener, a faculty member of the Vocational School, made a presentation on the status of Islamic finance in the world and in Kyrgyzstan. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Junus Ganiev, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Economics, presented the results of the scientific research project supported by Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, while Abdurashid Coraev, President of the International Academy of Islamic Finance Research "Sarakhsi" Association, member of the AAOIFI committee (Bahrain), talked about the importance of Islamic finance literacy in the development of the Islamic finance sector and made a presentation on Islamic insurance (takaful). The programme, which was attended by the audience from our university, other universities and Islamic finance communities of Kyrgyzstan, ended with a question and answer session.
