"Digital Transformation and Sustainability" Discussed at the Industrial Engineering Department

The Industrial Engineering Department hosted a seminar that focused on the innovations brought by Industry 4.0 and their relationship with sustainability. The event, titled "Digital Transformation and Sustainability in the Age of Industry 4.0," was held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in the MFFB-128 laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering and was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gören, one of our department's faculty members. The event received high praise from participants for bringing together two of today's most critical topics.

In his presentation, which began at 10:00 AM, Assist. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gören stated that digital transformation is not only about increasing efficiency but is also a powerful tool for building a sustainable future. He touched upon the practical applications of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as real-time monitoring and optimization of energy consumption with Internet of Things (IoT) based sensors, and preventing machine failures and waste with AI-powered predictive maintenance. Gören emphasized that while these technologies provide businesses with a competitive advantage, they also offer the opportunity to use resources more efficiently and reduce environmental impact.

The seminar, which was followed with great interest, concluded at 12:00 PM after an interactive session where Assist. Prof. Dr. Gören answered participants' questions. The event presented a holistic vision of future industrial paradigms to students and academics by demonstrating the synergy between digitalization and sustainability with concrete examples. This seminar successfully reflected the department's mission to equip students with the competencies required by the modern era.
