The spiritual atmosphere of the blessed month of Ramadan, observed in March 2026, once again extended beyond homes and filled the city streets. Citizens who were trying to reach home for iftar but were caught in heavy traffic were greeted by Theology Faculty students with warm smiles and meaningful refreshments.
As part of this volunteer initiative, organized under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Kemal Polat in cooperation with the Kalem Student Club of the Faculty of Theology, stands were set up at four of the busiest streets in the city. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of a group of students, more than 750 citizens who were behind the wheel at iftar time were offered dates and water.
The main aim of this meaningful four-day event was not only to provide physical refreshments but also to sustain awareness of Ramadan and the culture of iftar within society. It sought to help people caught in the rush of the city feel the unique spiritual atmosphere and blessings of Ramadan.
Members of the Kalem Student Club stated that through such initiatives they aim to spread a culture of kindness across all segments of society. The volunteers emphasized that the smiles on the faces of those stuck on the roads made all their efforts worthwhile and that such activities strengthen social solidarity.
This valuable initiative, which came to the aid of citizens who were unable to break their fast on time due to heavy traffic, received great appreciation and once again reminded everyone of the blessings of Ramadan that grow when shared.
