A new era in religious education in Central Asia: The opening of the Kyrgyz Islamic Academy


The Islamic Academy was officially opened with great ceremony on Monday, September 15, 2025. The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, attended the official opening ceremony of the academy.

The Islamic Academy aims to become one of the most prestigious and influential educational institutions in Central Asia in the field of religious studies. The Academy’s vision is to cultivate qualified scholars who will contribute academically and spiritually to the region.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Advisor to the Rector of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof., Dr. Kemal Polat, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Bakyt Murzuraimov, and academic staff. The academicians noted that this opening is an important step towards the development of inter-institutional cooperation and joint projects.

The newly opened Islamic Academy is expected to make a valuable contribution to both religious education in Central Asia and international academic cooperation.
