Pursuing its research-focused growth strategy, Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) has provided $509,000 to 131 research projects in the last three years. The university currently has 77 active projects contributing to scientific knowledge production and the development of solutions to societal challenges.
Through its Scientific Research Projects (BAP) system, which supports researchers, promotes interdisciplinary collaborations, and aims to enhance the quality of scientific research, the university continues to strengthen research capacity year by year. The projects implemented and financial support provided in the last three years are among the concrete indicators of the university's research-focused growth strategy.
131 new scientific research projects were supported in three years.
Within the scope of the BAP, 45 new projects were supported in 2024, 45 in 2025, and 41 in the first six months of 2026, and a total of 131 scientific research projects were funded, strengthening the university's research capacity.
Not only the increase in the number of projects, but also the consistent support indicates university’s strong commitment to scientific research. The number of projects completed in the first six months of 2026 alone indicates that a new record level could be reached by the end of the year.
As of today, there are 77 active projects being carried out, along with research activities, newly accepted projects and ongoing studies from 2024 and 2025.
Projects covering the fields of engineering, natural sciences, health sciences, veterinary medicine, agriculture, education, social and humanities, and communication aim to not only generate new scientific knowledge, but also to develop solutions for regional development, technical innovations, sustainability and social needs.
Strategic investment exceeding $500,000 in science
Investments aimed at strengthening the research infrastructure are also being pursued with the same determination. The total support provided to scientific research projects in the last three years has reached $500,000, once again revealing the strategic importance that the university attaches to research and scientific production. These investments make significant contributions to the transformation of innovative ideas of researchers into projects, the development of laboratory infrastructures, the provision of scientific equipment, the support of graduate research and the increase of the quality of international publications.
Scientific projects turn into high-quality publications.
The studies carried out within the scope of Scientific Research Projects (BAP) not only contribute to the production of new knowledge, but turn into high-quality academic publications that gain visibility in the international scientific world as well. The research results obtained from the projects are published in international peer–reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases, included Q1-Q2 quartiles, strengthening the university's scientific publication performance and global academic visibility. While these publications increase the effectiveness of KTMU in international research networks, they make significant contributions to increasing the value of scientific impact, developing international collaborations and further strengthening the research-oriented university identity.
Scientific Research Turns into Social Value
The scientific research projects carried out at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University stand out as studies that develop solutions to social needs beyond the production of scientific knowledge, support innovative applications and contribute to regional development. The projects carried out in different disciplines aim to transfer scientific knowledge to practice, support technological development and create sustainable solutions for the priority needs of society.
BAP investments also make a significant contribution to strengthening the university's research culture. The projects, which bring academics, graduate students and young researchers together in joint research processes, while encouraging interdisciplinary cooperation, provide a strong basis for the training of qualified human resources and the continuous development of KTMU's knowledge-generating capacity.
Each Project Undergoes Multi-Stage Academic Evaluation
BAP Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ercan Çelik states that each project supported within the scope of Scientific Research Projects has passed through a multi-stage, transparent and academic criteria-based evaluation process. Çelik notes that BAP applications are registered primarily through the university's digital BAP automation system, and then subjected to editorial preliminary examination by the BAP Coordinator in terms of compliance with the project guidelines, content and format. Stating that the projects that successfully completed this stage were sent to three independent referees determined according to their fields of expertise in accordance with the principle of blind peer review, Çelik noted that it was decided to support the projects based on the evaluation reports of the referees regarding scientific originality, methodological competence, applicability and expected academic contribution. He stressed that this evaluation mechanism ensures that all projects supported by the university are selected in accordance with the principles of scientific quality, objectivity.
Rector Ceylan: "Scientific knowledge is the most powerful dynamic of social development."
Expressing that as Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, they see research as a strategic investment that supports social development beyond an academic activity, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan stated that scientific research is one of the most important elements shaping the university's future and made the following assessment:
"The goal of becoming a research university is achievable through establishing a system that sustainably supports its researchers. The funding exceeding half a million dollars we have provided to 131 scientific research projects in the last three years is a concrete reflection of this approach. Our fundamental approach is to create a strong research environment in which our researchers can turn their ideas into scientific outputs by supporting every project with a high scientific quality, original and with the potential to produce social benefits to the extent necessary. In this direction, we consider providing the necessary resources to every project of our researchers that is worth supporting to be an indispensable part of creating a strong research system that encourages scientific production. Through this support, we not only finance research projects, but also foster emergence of new ideas, the development of young researchers, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and internationally competitive scientific research. We believe that every investment in research is an investment in knowledge, society, and the future. We are working with determination to advancing Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University as a research university that generates knowledge, develops solutions, creates international impact. "
