In celebration of Mother’s Day and in line with its commitment to social responsibility, the Faculty of Communication of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (KTMU) hosted a heartfelt event titled “Mother’s Day Bringing Peace.” The event took place at the KTMU Social Facilities Building and welcomed elderly and disabled residents from the Umut Social Care Institution in Bishkek for an evening filled with warmth, appreciation, and intergenerational connection.

The event was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev, Umut Institution psychologist Kanymbu Ismailova, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Kürşat Gülbeyaz, as well as university academic and administrative staff and invited guests. The goal of the gathering was to build stronger bridges between generations and to encourage the active inclusion of elderly individuals in social and cultural life.

In his opening remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan highlighted: “At Manas University, we are more than just an educational institution—we are a big family. Our academic and administrative staff and students all play a part in shaping this community. With the motto ‘More Than Just a University’ as our guiding slogan, we place great value on honoring and respecting our elders.”

He further noted the deep cultural and spiritual role of mothers in both Islamic tradition and Turkish culture: “Today, we are very pleased to welcome you to our campus. Our doors will always remain open to our elders. It is important that our young people learn from your wisdom, be inspired by your stories, and feel the compassion and guidance that only a parent or elder can offer. Your smiles today are a gift we deeply cherish.”

Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev emphasized the irreplaceable role of mothers and the values they represent: “A mother rocks the cradle with one hand and the world with the other. The strength and sacrifices of mothers are at the heart of every achievement. Their blessings are essential in every path we take.”

He also reaffirmed the university’s role in preserving and transmitting cultural values: “Respect for our elders is a core principle of our heritage. At Manas University, we not only provide academic training but also strive to nurture socially conscious, value-driven individuals.”

Dean of the Faculty of Communication Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal expressed his gratitude for the presence of the elderly guests: “Our values begin at home—with our mothers. When they are with us, life’s burdens become more meaningful. Every society must know how to protect and preserve its cultural roots.”

Representing the guests, Umut Institution psychologist Kanymbu Ismailova conveyed her appreciation: “We are sincerely thankful for this meaningful initiative. Today’s event reflects Manas University’s genuine commitment not only to its students but also to society as a whole. On behalf of all our residents, thank you for making us feel valued and included.”

The evening concluded with a moving performance by the Turkic World Orchestra, which delighted attendees with timeless melodies. The concert stirred powerful emotions, and many guests sang along with the performers—some with tears in their eyes—as they recalled cherished memories.

This meaningful celebration once again demonstrated Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University’s strong commitment to fostering social responsibility and cultural respect. University leadership announced plans to expand the “Mother’s Day Bringing Peace” event in the future, aiming to reach more members of the community.
