On April 24, 2025, the international conference “Global Mountain Dialogue for Sustainable Development: Towards the Summit Bishkek+25” began at the State Residence “Ala-Archa” in Bishkek. The event was officially opened by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, and brought together representatives from over 50 countries and nearly 30 international organizations, along with officials from various ministries and institutions of Kyrgyzstan. Among the participants were the Rector of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Ceylan, and Deputy Rector, Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibraev.

The conference aims to address the environmental, social, and economic challenges facing mountain regions and to promote international cooperation for their sustainable development. It seeks to incorporate the mountain agenda into global climate frameworks, international environmental agreements, and the Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, the event serves as a platform for developing joint initiatives in the lead-up to the Second Global Bishkek Mountain Summit “Bishkek+25,” to be held in 2027.

The two-day event is being held within the framework of the “Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions” (2023–2025), declared by the United Nations General Assembly on the initiative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov. The conference also serves as a key platform for raising international awareness of the unique challenges faced by mountain communities.
